Off to auction, not available at this time.Vintage rig mated pair of Mallard & Hen wooden decoys attributed to Skippy Barto (1880-1959). Skippy "Home run" Barto the baseball player turned decoy carver. The bodies are Cedar, both are signed with the initials "BBB" and "B" on the lead keel weights. These older decoys are always a bit of a mystery, I have had help in identifying these- The heads and keel weights are most definitely Mr. Barto's work. To me even though the bodies are Cedar which he used, but they appear to be more like Animal trap type decoys and made on a shoe last duplicator. The paint on both is quite nice and appears to match. If anybody has input on these I would like to hear it. Both heads are a little loose from their putty. and there in one chunk out of the base of the Mallard. Handsome rig mated pair-Lots of photos! it may take a while to load if you don't have a cable moment Do take a moment and see my other decoys.
