SOLD- Thank you! What more can be said about the 442nd RCT ? The most decorated unit ever to serve in the U.S. They earned more than 18,000 individual decorations, including one Medal of Honor, 53 Distinguished Service Crosses, 588 awards of the Silver Star, 5,200 awards of the Bronze Star Medal and 9,486 Purple Hearts, and seven Presidential Unit Citations, the nation's top award for combat units.By Presidential order 19 of the Distinguished service crosses were upgraded to the Medal of Honor. These fiercely patriotic "Nesei" or second generation Japanese Americans were for the most part, except for Hawaiian residents, recruited directly from internment camps where the were held with their families. Made by the Italian firm of Picchiani y Barlacchi obtained after the units arrival in Italy in June of 1944. Perfect dark patina to the metal, they could be polished to look "shiny" but I don't want to be the one to erase 60+ years of patina. Lots of photos from all angles of these, please be patient while the load. Rare D.I. from a very specific time period of wartime Italy. Credit to periscope films LLC for the black and white newsreel footage of the 442nd in training.
