SOLD - Legendary John Ek commando knife WWII era production in Hamden Conn. Interesting in that marked as a No 1 it clearly has the blade grind of a No 2 model Ranger. Possible theater modified, as the model 1 had a double edge approx 3" up the length of the blade and a soldier could have simply extended the edge. From the ''Theater modified'' knives I've seen by young G.I.s they involved a grinder and not much patience! The grind line appears done at the Hamden workshop as there is no loss in temper and it matches the other edge of the blade.Possible stamping error as the Hamden factory was working 3 shifts 24 hours a day to keep up with demand at the time. Please see photos of this profile. Has the original sheath though the belt loop has been severed long ago. Great find as Mr. Ek limited his sales to soldiers only during this period. Please know that the paratroop infantry hat and the camouflage parachute canopy are just for display and not included with the knife. If this knife brought you here please take a moment to see my other WWII items. Thanks!
